This is true in so many ways.
In spring, the little bits of garbage that were tossed or lost from vehicles or people walking during the long cold winter are now making the neighbourhood look trashy.
Now another little bit can go a long way. A little bit of time cleaning up can go a long way to restore the beauty to our community.
Creighton School has Creighton looking quite tidy. The Girl Guides also did their little bit on the weekend. All these efforts are making a difference.
There is still a chance to do your little bit. Register your business or neighbours with Acklands for ’20 Minutes of Magic’ on June 6 to take 20 minutes and clean up a small section of the town.
The Flin Flon schools are ready to go. That will make a big difference. But they cannot do it all, so get your group together and find a park, a street, or a wooded area to clean up.
Carry 2 bags, one for garbage and one for recyclables like aluminium cans, and plastic bottles. Or have one person be responsible for them. Keeping recyclables out of the landfill saves resources, energy, greenhouse gases and water.
This year the Northern community that collects the most garbage by weight wins $5,000.00 for a community project. Acklands has chosen the Recycling Centre.
So weigh what you collect with a fish scale or however you can and let Acklands know how much you collected.
Then do your little bit to keep it clean putting garbage in garbage cans. Secure items in the back of your truck.
Everyone’s little bit will go a long way.
