  • Tin cans
*shredded paper should be office paper only and in a separate bag.  It can be in a smaller bag inside the bag with everything else.
**the number of plastic is on the bottom inside the recycling symbol. The letters below the symbol help when the number is hard to read. All beverage  bottles are #1 and may not have a symbol.

Hazardous Waste

Paint and Fluorescent Bulbs from homes  can be brought to the Recycling Centre for safe disposal.

Compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL) and tubes should be given to staff when the Centre is open to prevent breakage.  Broken bulbs release mercury (nasty stuff!).

A full time Hazardous waste depot is coming to Flin Flon Landfill Spring 2017

If CFL bulbs break at home:
do not sweep or vacuum. Leave the area for a few minutes. Wear gloves and pick up pieces with two pieces of box board and  place in a sealable plastic bag . Wipe the surface with a damp paper towel to collect all the bits and dust. If it is carpet,  roll packing tape with sticky side  out. Pat the area to collect all the bits. Place tape, paper towel, gloves, cardboard in the bag with the pieces of the bulb.
Seal the bag and bring to the Recycling Centre.
If it's on the list, recycle it. If it's not, it is garbage.
